Who are you?

Time for another poll, guys. What makes up your identity? How do you define yourself? Are there parts of your life that your reject as present in your identity? Parts you consider essential that only exhibit minimal influence? Parts that don't exist but you wish did?

or:

5 words to describe yourself. go!

I think there will always be parts of your life that you reject from your "identity". Bad things can happen in life yet to get over them you can't let them define who you are. There may be some people that you hurt and you can't let those actions define you either. I've done things I'm not proud of but if I dwell on them forever then I can't progress from being that person who I may not like. Maybe our identities are really just idealistic versions of the different people we are in life (and face it - we're different to different people and in different circumstances).

I think we also naturally choose characteristics that we consider to be desirable. Who wants to think they're a bad person with undesirable characteristics?

But that said, here are my five words and I'll try to be as real as possible:

uncertain, loyal, hard worker, moody

It doesn't sound that good does it? haha.

You're right Niki, we become our desires so essentially we should all be pretty happy with ourselves? After all, we are all that we have ever wanted, to an extent. Some things don't work out tho. Like we put on weight without wanting it to be there or bad people come along and change our destiny. Some things we can't control. But appearances aside and talking personality-only... here is my five:

Outspoken, friendly, off-centre, giggly, moody

(However my partner would probably throw in rude, bitch and mental case haha!)

Oh I'm happy to see someone actually did this little exercise! I'm still thinking about mine. But I think I'll post soon.

I almost forgot about this! (I'm counting hyphenated words as one word, my blog, my rules).I'm going to have to go with earnest, cautious, passionate, recovering-perfectionist, joy-seeker. I realize some of these are contradictory but I think all of our best and worst qualities are contradictory, no?

KT,
I love that you have this in your blog! Tasks like this are not easy. Let me give it a stab at my current state of being; as I realize some of the 5 change over time while others stay on the list for a life-time:

Mother (to 3 amazing people)
Self-driven
Joy-filled
God-centered
Searcher

I'm not a regular reader, but I couldn't help notice your challenge. My husband recently brought home a book along similar lines that you might appreciate.
It's called "Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure" by Rachel Fershleiser, Larry Smith. It hosts such beauties as:
"Liars! Hysterectomy didn't improve sex life." by Joan Rivers and
"Well, I thought it was funny" by Stephen Colbert.

Just to add a twist to the challenge :) (no, I have no idea what my memoir would be yet.)
